Fine Arts #8: Color Wheel of Me
You are going to make a special project that you can use to show more about who you are on the inside. You will use many colors to make this creation, but it can be any shape you like. It can be a wheel, a rainbow, a colorful bird, anything! There will be three different groups of color used on this project. You will use a small section of your work to show your “inherited” colors (colors of skin, hair, lips, eyes, etc.). The next biggest section will be your “chosen” colors. These can be colors you’ve chosen to wear on your clothing for today, your favorite colors to wear or maybe even the color of paint you have on the walls in your room. The largest section will be the colors of you “inner self.” The section for inherited colors will need to be the SMALLEST, the section for chosen colors will be MEDIUM HEIGHT, and the colors of your inner self will be the LARGEST. You will use scraps of scrapbook paper or scraps of paper from magazines to make your creation. Remember that this is what people see when they look at you. If the colors of your MOOD are dim and poor, this could give people the wrong first impression. When these colors are bright and energetic, that’s how people will see you, etc.
For this section, you will use colors that represent how you feel about yourself or colors that you think represent your mood and personality. When you have finished making your collage, share your project with your classroom teacher, the HAL Coordinator at your building or Mrs. Jack ([email protected]) and explain what you've done for the colors in each section and how you've decided to spread them out over your design.
Materials Needed: scraps of paper and scrapbook paper, old magazines, other scrap material, glue, poster board or large paper to mount project on.

Fine Arts #7: Mona Lisa Smiles
Look carefully at the picture below of Mona Lisa grinning in her portrait. Think about some reasons she might have this look on her face. What could she be looking at behind the artist that is painting her? On the journal page, draw a picture to show what Mona might be grinning at and explain what she could be thinking about. Be creative and think “outside the box” about what it could be.
Also remember to use a lot of detail in your picture so that we can see exactly what you are creating. Then share your project with your classroom teacher, the HAL Coordinator at your building or Mrs. Jack ([email protected]):

Fine Arts #6: Music Dynamics Mosiac
This Music Dynamic Mosaic Activity integrates visual arts to enrich and engage students’ understanding of musical dynamics. Learn about musical dynamics, ranging from pianissimo to fortissimo, and then design and color the square “tiles”. Each blank square contains the outline of one dynamic (PP, P, MP, MF, F, and FF). Although there are suggestions for assigning certain colors to dynamics, the simple design allows you to have complete creative freedom when designing your “tiles.” After each tile has been completed and cutout, they can be assembled in dynamic order from softest to loudest as one large mosaic decoration!
You can work with these color/dynamic suggestions:
PP - Purple
P - Blue
MP - Green
MF - Yellow
F - Orange
FF - Red
However, you are free to come up with your own design and color suggestions. Some more artistic students enjoy doodling or using “Zentangle” to decorate their tiles.
Watch the video above then download this template and design your tiles. Then share your project with your classroom teacher, the HAL Coordinator at your building or Mrs. Jack ([email protected]):
